The recent video released by NGO “Water Is Life” has become an instant sensation on various social networking sites. The video portrays a sad, poignant and unfortunate story of a girl who is born in slum.
However, the video has drawn flak from people for trivializing and connecting a wretched life of girl who faces the horrors and injustice of the destiny, with the decrease in availability of water.
Yes, we agree that the lack of availability of clean water is a serious problem for our society. But, to connect it with a girl’s inability to express her emotions is a naive and poor decision. It is almost similar to the absurd commercial advertisements which connect irrelevant situation to promote their product.
As the organisation which has released the video works for the upliftment of the society, it could be expected that they should have respected the sensitivity of the issue that they were using to project their message.
