Brain implant could restore lost memory

Brain implant

If you have been injured in the line of duty and you can’t remember your family, such condition is very panic for both family members and yourself. But, the remedy of this problem is discovered by some of the talented scientists in the USA who are researching to restore the lost memory through brain implant.

Researchers have disclosed that they are advancing towards developing a brain implant that could restore lost memory. Especially, if researchers get succeeded then this could benefit five million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease and about 300,000 US military wounded soldiers injured in the war.

The men and women who have got severe brain injuries in Iraq and Afghanistan would be able to get their lost memory back, if Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) who is doing all efforts, able to build a sophisticated memory stimulator with a four-year plan

The research is the part of President Barack Obama’s 100 million-dollar initiative to better understand the human brain. Though, science has never been done before such experiment and recovering the short term memory would be easier, but long term memory would be exponetially more difficult.
The research also raised questions that whether in the name of restoring lost memory during war, researchers are trying to manage the aging brain. Uptil, no research is done on any human being as a part of the project.

DARPA program manager Justin Sanchez said, “I think we could develop neuroprosthetic devices that can directly interface with the hippocampus, and can restore the first type of memories like recollections of people, events, facts and figures which are known as declarative memories.”
